Default BB swap progress pics

I meant lots and lots of pics

Cleaning the compartment

...with Dad

um, simplyfying.. yeah that's it.

The shortblock (after days of scrubbing)

The heads (note the jet fighter inlet sized oval ports)

Me cleaning... still (I look like the hunchback in this one)

Clicking away...

The heads be torqued!

Masked and ready

Dad (krylon master)

Total transformation

Sealing up the bottom end (can't leak on the track now can I)

Topside

Gaskets in place, ready for the manifold

Manifold on with pretty ARP bolts :D

Add some headers (me being happy)

Some wires and a Holley 4165

There you have it... that's what I've been doing all week... so, now just finish detailing the engine compartment, paint it black inside... chase the scary wiring, fix the lights.......

Buy dual Spals from DeWitt's. Best $400 you'll ever spend!

Thanks! I could use some ideas while we're at it, does anybody know of an oval port manifold (and where I can find one) that will fit under the stock '73 hood? I know the Edelbrock Torker II will, but I'm running the stock torque converter and a RV cam so I don't think that would be the best match. Did 1973 LS4's come with oval or rectangular port heads? Any ideas would be great. Thanks!

I think '71 was the last year they offered rect. port heads on BB Corvette's, or anything else for that matter. I have a 70-71 LS6 intake on mine, and it's the only one I know of that is stock GM that will fit under a stock (non L88) hood, except maybe the tri-power intakes. Oval ports are a different story, but the T2 is the one I hear about most guys running. I think there is also a Weind Stealth or X-Celerator that might work. '73 BB's definately came with ovals. I don't think a T2 would kill you with a stock converter, you've got an awful lot of torque to play with there. I have rect. heads and 2" primary headers, not the best scenario for low end with 8.75:1 CR and a ZZ 502 cam, and this thing will still boil the hides off for 25 yards with no brake.

:D Awesome. (that put a big grin on my face just sitting here reading) Well, I've always like Edelbrock anyway, maybe I'll save up some money and get myself a T2 and a 1407.

Thanks for the feedback!
