Default Replacement Battery

A friend of my wife has a 1982 Vette that is driven very little. The battery died and needs to be replaced. Any recommendations on a replacement battery, vendors, etc.?

Thanks

Can never go wrong with a DieHard. No special battery required for a vette, I actually use an undersized one to make it easier to remove when needed.

Just get any name brand from a local store, be sure to take in the old battery because there may be a core charge.

Dollar for Dollar the best Batt is the GM Delco, No leaks, last at least 5 to 7 years. That is my battery of choice.

Here's a thought... get one with both the side and top terminals. Top ones being the post type and the side being the screw-in type. I have one and it makes it allot easier when you have to jump it or hook something up real quick.

Optima is a great choice, and i've also been hearing good things about the Delco Glasmat too.

If it tends to sit a long time, then I would recommend a deep cycle battery. It can drain all the way down to nil, but still be in good working order. It can also be quick charged with no problems. It's a tight fit in the compartment, but I got the biggest deep cycle to fit in mine.

Kragen/Checker/Schucks has an Exide Nautilus Megatorque group 24 battery that I think is the best, but they also have a smaller one that should work well.

Optima - same battery since X-mas of '98. No need to worry about venting this type of battery. All orig type batteries have outside vent tubing.
I had a wet-sytle battery gas up on me once (no vent tubes, of course). My eyes were watering all the way to the parts house

I have an Optima red top in my jeep for 9 years now, and it gets bounced and jiggled to death. I used to kill wet cells every 6 months.

Optima is the way to go
