I've got a Mallory Unilite on my LS-4 454. Given my low compression ratio (8.25 to 1), does it even pay to recurve the advance from what comes standard on the Mallory distributor?

Bone stock Delco HEI module and stock '69 Delco coil. Instant starts, flawless operation on the track, and proof that stock coils do not erupt in a ball of fire if the ballast resistance is not present.

I bought a DUI coil and module. Module lasted about 3 years. Put the original module - 17 years old then - back in and ran it for the rest of the time. Special modules suck based on my DUI experience.
