Default Why do I need a choke?

Just thinking, Its always in the garage, hardly ever drive in cold weather when it doesnt come from the garage (50+ temp), and I never just let it sit at idle to "warm up". Is this thing necesary?

If you put it that way then...........No.
I drove mine like that for the first 3 years I had it because I was in the same situation living in Austin. I just put a choke on mine since I moved to Northern Virginia and I drive my car year round.

My choke is screwed up and wired open. It can still be a pain to start even here in the desert (early mornings can be chilly), but a few secs on the throttle to move some gas through and a minute or 2 idle solves that prob.

Never had one and never ran into a problem. But I do live in a very warm climate. I guess if I lived up north it might be good to have one. :seeya

NO, I drive anywhere anytime and NO choke. Choke tower is milled off to fit my RPM AirGap intake...And you know where I live....

I should have said that I'm a lazy sob too. I'm about ready to set the carb back on the new aluminum intake and I dont want to jury-rig the choke to get it to work. :D

I kind of like a manual choke. It's there when you need it...adjustable...no added stuff on the intake, exhaust, or electrical system...but a pain to find an out of the way place to mount. :auto: :auto: :auto: :auto: :auto: :auto: :auto: :auto:

I went from elec choke to manual choke to none. I don't miss it and after a five min. warm up you won't notice the difference. For some unknown reason when I was using the manual choke it would mysteriously close on me. While on the highway or in traffic! :mad That was the last straw.

You might not need a choke.

I just disonnected my elec. choke and it seems fine, just let it warm up a bit longer. Although, it's nice and toasty warm where i live! :D
