One tough Leatherneck!
Here's pic of my 18 year old cousin, who was wounded on Saturday the 5th of April about 20 miles south of Baghdad. He was hit by 8 bullets and grenade fragments. 6 of the bullets actually penetrated his body, his vest stopped 2 of them. He was hit in the right foot, right leg, and right arm breaking several bones. He also got grenade fragments in his hands and chin, he is going to be Okay. He will need some more surgery to repair tendons in his hands and lots of physical therapy.
He should be flying home to either Bethesda Naval Medical Center or to Brooks Army Medical Center (Brooks in San Antonio is the closest major wound center to his home.)
He is a tough kid who was anticipating his high school graduation this time last year. We are all very proud of him and really glad that he is coming home alive. As you can tell by his picture, he isn't too down about the whole situation. We all offer our thanks to God and the Navy Corpsman that drug him to cover and started patching up his wounds.

Smokehouse....
Thinking you are the first to post anything about anyone in their family(immediate or cousin) who was injured or killed in Iraq. It's quite an honor for you to post his picture so we can all see who the faces are who are fighting for freedom. Thanks! We've got a great group of guys & gals who are in our armed services.

The first hero on the forum in a long time!
You will let him drive your Vette for one year, no questions asked, as a "Thank you" from the Corvette Forum- right?

Just saw him on CNN. As an Air Force guy, I have to say that I am exceptionally proud of our ground troops right now. I've been in for 14 years and was pretty proud of what the air power did during Desert Storm. The Marines are really shining right now. Tell your cousin that I'm proud to be on the same team with him. Rock on.

I just posted a new topic after seeing him on Fox News. Are you or someone else giving him a Vette? I think he said he was being given a 1974 C3.

 Thanks for the post Smokehouse!
I am glad he made it through. I thank him for all he has done, my kids and grandkids will be taught to be thankful for the young men and women that give so much to preserve our freedom. No protesters allowed in the Smith family!
Thanks for the post and may that young man fully recover quickly! :flag
