Default Wet streets are not a vette's friend

Got on my car tonight around 40 mph and the streets were wet. That can be very scary as you turn sideways at 50 mph. Gotta account for tourque I guess..............scared me to death

When I first got my vette it had bald rear tires. I was driving in the rain, made a right turn at about 10mph and the car fishtails and almost hits a huge Dodge Ram duelly thing. Now I always go slow in the rain, can really tell a big difference between old cars and new cars(not to mention tires).

All you need is H.P. tires with not to many heat cycles. When i was really into road racing with pouring down rain or pure dry weather. The lap times in Las Vegas road racing course were only about 6 seconds a lap on a 2.4 mile 18 turn track.

You just need to move up to better tires!:)

My girlfriend and I were out on one of our first dates and it rained on us. I had a 79 with the L48 at the time so I thought I would kick it just a little pulling out of a parking lot in Knoxville. Well it got sideways and just barely stopped before hitting the curb. Needless to say I was drawn up real tight. Luckily no one was coming. I just put it in reverse and said sorry. The girlfriend is now my wife and the 79 has been gone for a long time.

Gotta be careful out there in the rain with these cars.

Mine used to be bad about the back end breaking loose in the rain before I got my T-arms done and had a 4 wheel alignment. Now even if I gas it hard around a turn, the results are very predicatable and it doesn't require a ton of counter steer to get out of the slide. And that's with Douglas tires! :U (will replace with something better as soon as I wear em out!)

Ever since I got the big block in I have avoided rain at all costs, but have drove in it a few times (wasn't fun). You'll never catch me in the rain now with my Mickey Thompson ET Streets permanently mounted. I almost got caught in the rain with them on the other day....wouldn't have been fun :( .

Tires, tires, tires. I've autocrossed in the rain with my new 17's and they are an excellent wet tire. Of course right foot control on those slippery surfaces help too ;) ,

That's one thing I don't like about my vette... I can't tell feel when the rear tires break traction until after I'm already sliding. We got one of them circular intersections in the town I'm from. I like to take it pretty fast :reddevil but look out when you try to accelerate out of the corner  :yesnod:

I stay off the streets in the vette when it rains....

But right after I bought my crewcab dually. I went completely sideways on a 3 lane street in the rain.(not on purpose)...Sort of like power sliding a school bus...Fun, but not something you want to do on purpose.
