Getting the body mounts off was my biggest pain in the azz... two of the bolts snapped and those were the easy ones. The worst was when the cage nuts started spinning. :cuss

Convince the wife you only need ONE MORE PART to finish the Car. :yesnod: What a Miniute this is her Vette. I am replacing the window motors, power door locks and ALL the switches on the car. It is a 1980 and a little better access on some things than the 1985 we had.

routing the spark plug wires the correct way, through the shielding, and under the motor mount is about as much fun as getting your wisdom teeth pulled!

:iagree:

i also found ripping my vette apart one weekend and re wiring everything was a total pain in the butt and then to get everything back in tight and the right way was a pain

I agree with all. On A/C 'Vettes (assuming you don't want to break into the A/C system so as to preserve the R-12):
1. the heater core
2. Radiator
3. Tranny cooling hoses
4. FUEL PUMP
5. Upper control arm bushings/bolts
and my most recent favorite:
6. The three pieces of carpet on the rear storage compartment doors.

Figuring out how to spend even more money on the money pit. Knowing the car will never be perfect but I keep on spending. I look at it as mental and physical therapy. When the wife wants to know how much it’s going to cost I just say as much as you payed your shrink. Some how I manage to spend aleast $2000 a year since I bought it in 93.

Acutally, the upper left nut on the power brake booster, under the dash rates right up there with damn near impossible. :smash:
Oh yeah. You have to be a 95 lb contortionist to get to those...

The Radiator was a challenge....
Under the dash a challenge...
Transmission was easy (on a lift)
Plug Wires were easy, I just rerouted and removed all of the shielding when I rebuilt the engine.. (cheating, but looks better)

The absolute worst though: Brakes! Booster is a PITA, Lines are a PITA, bleeding is a PITA.. THe bolt locations on the booster suck....

Just my two cents!

I'll agree with the control arm bushings and getting the spings back in. I finally used a torch on problem 1 and hose clamps applied while the spings were in a spring compressor on problem 2. Hose clamps on the sping was like walking around with a bomb and a ticking fuse. You have to compress them from about 16 inches to less than 13 inches. Yeow.

re and re tach .............. aaaaaarrrrrrgh.

add to your pleasure discovering that it is incorrectly calibrated AFTER you re install it.

now I have the unique experience of fixing something twice to fix it once.. :banghead: :mad
