Orientation of 5 blade fan on fan clutch
Hello all,
I'm looking for help on how to orient the 5 blade fan on the fan clutch in relation to the holes drilled in the clutch. Unfortunatly i did not pay attention to it's orientation when removing the blade to clean. it up and paint it.
Regards,
Eric

Dino 72:
Are there holes drilled into the outside edge of the clutch? if so, would you take a photo of the clutch and fan blade showing the holes?
Thanks,
Eric

The fan fits on the backside of the clutch and is bolted with the threaded holes in the clutch. The small clutch hub mounts to the water pump.

Thanks guys,
Unfortunately the blue paint and yellow paint are gone. I'm trying to find out what the orientation of the fan blade is to the clutch if it matters at all. I'm assuming the 4 holes drilled into the outside edge of the clutch are for balancing the clutch and maybe the clutch/fan blade assembly. I'm looking to know how the 5th blade which is offset from the 2 sets of 2 blades gets bolted to the clutch regarding an orientation to the holes.
Regards,
Eric

I don't believe it matters which bolt hole goes to which bolt.
Note the blades rivet braces go towards the engine.
The fifth blade may or may not have anything to do with balancing the unit. The "odd" blade is more likely to break-up the harmonics / vibrations.
A dab of Loctite Blue is a really good idea on all the fan bolts / nuts.

As HeadsU.P. replied, it doesn't really matter the rotational orientation of the blades on the clutch. If it did there would be alignment markings of some sort and replacement instructions in the GM service manuals.
