Default Question on Raised port BBC heads

If I went with a .300" raised exhaust port will that effect the alternator bolt that attached to the headers? If so is there a work around for the alternator bracket?

I used a spacer on the header bolt that the bracket connects to and then massaged some of the holes to make everything line up and work.

what heads are you looking at and what size motor and cam are you running....If you are running a 427 and keeping th ehorsepowerr under 600 look at Brodix Race Rite heads with a 270 intake Oval ports...good heads, stock exhaust locations. Edelbrock has some heads as well with stock exhaust ports.

I am running AFR heads on my 502, and the .300 raised exhaust port caused no fitment problems at all on my car.

Depends on the year of car/brackets but the 68/69 big block brackets also bolt into that first stud/bolt on the exhaust manifold. What we had to do with headers is cut a steel spacer to make up the difference between the header flange and where the stud would have been. No way would the brackets on the 68 I worked on tolerate moving more than a 1/4” up. Just not enough room. Everything was super tight in and around there anyways. Had to put a CS130 alternator on it to clear a taller valve cover.

Thankyou everyone. I was looking into Blueprint engines and use a raised port. Good to know it can be done.
