Just saw your thread. I had my mechanic replace the orginal one on my 71,000 mile 73 after hearing a "thunk" in the rear center of the car every time I let off the gas pedal. Attached is a picture of the newly installed rubber snubber. He had no problems replacing it. The old one was cracked and torn up.

FWIW even though is squashes somewhat I had to cut the rubber mount down some to correct the angle of the driveshaft a few years ago while chasing a mild vibration

I agree and at this point I’ll just install the bushing finger tight and not worry about it until I get the transmission and engine in to check the driveline angle.
