Default How to Power Wiper Motor When Bench Testing?

The wipers on my '71 convertible abruptly stopped working.

I'm getting ~12VDC at the three-wire connector that plugs into the motor.

How do I power the motor when it's removed on the bench?

Thanks

If there's not a black wire in the plug/harness I'd ground the housing.

Great video, but it doesn't say where to get the 12 Volts to do this test on the bench.

What do you suggest?

Thanks

How about a line from your battery? That's what I did. Jerry

Replaced the motor with a brand new one (not rebuilt) from Zip Corvette.

Still nothing. Wipers still don't work.

I hear a clicking sound from under the dash when I toggle the wiper switch on & off. I also feel, what I think is the wiper relay (located under the passenger side dash), also clicking when I put my hand on it and toggle the wiper switch on & off.

Very disappointed. Please help.

Thanks

From this, I assume you did not test the old motor. Is that correct?

I got impatient because my inspection sticker is due this month. Don't have a lot of spare time at the moment, I just wanted to bolt in a new one and be done with it.

Do you have anything further to offer?

Thanks

I can only offer that you didn't gain anything in your time savings. You asked about bench testing and got all sorts of responses...but didn't do it and well...here you are.

I doubt you can return an electrical part. Since it's yours, you should probably test it too. Could be a bad motor even if you just bought it.

Shortcuts rarely are shortcuts.

I agree. Looks like I'll bench test the old, and new, motors.

I'm getting ~12VDC at the three-wire connector that plugs into the motor.

I never checked the red & yellow wires. Are you referring to the red wire that has the molded plug? What yellow wire are you referring to?

I also see two wires, yellow & blue, that have barrel-style connectors. These plug behind the black cover that covers the pump.

Thanks

A Gentleman on another current thread is experiencing a similar problem with his wipers:

1970 Wiper door opens but wipers don't come on - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion

He seems to think that the wiper vacuum switch is causing his problem. Isn't this switch simply the relay to open the wiper door? Does it have anything to do with the actual wipers operating?

Could Folks' please have a look and give an opinion on whether this may resolve my wiper issue?

Thanks
