1972 Corvette 454, wiper door opens up when I shut off the engine
1972 Corvette 454, wiper door opens up when I shut off the engine. I Have to always push down manually to close the door when I turn off the engine.
What to check for and resolve this.
Thank you
Vic

Did you check if the actuator on the firewall passenger side is leaking vacuum?

Definitely a vacuum leak. You need a mechanics stethoscope or a hose in the ear to listen to the switched side of the vacuum system to see what or where the leak is....or just twist all the connections and cut off 1 inch of the ends that twist to get a better seal......the actuator relay has 4 hoses going to it. You need to check The one hose on the top which is on the switched side, the plunger switch under the wiper door, the relay solenoid on the tach and the tee that splits and goes to the headlight switch...
When you loose vacuum the actuator relay is letting the plunger inside move enough to let the working vacuum get into the open circuit. Also you could have a leak on top of the actuator relay but i would replace that as a last resort
Its a super easy system and once you figure out how it works its easy to trouble shoot
