I think I have just about taken every part off my '72, at one time or another, cleaned and/or painted it. Getting ready to take the body off again. Anyway, every part I have taken off, says 2-71 or 3-71. I've often wondered if I should order parts for a 71 rather than a 72 although I'm sure there is no difference in the parts, per se.
Just odd that they call this a 72 when it was made early '71.
Amazing......... any reasoning behind this or was this just a left over 71 and renamed 72, lol.

The 1972 Corvette was introduced in March of 1971 and featured a number of changes from previous models. One of the most noticeable changes was the switch from chrome to urethane front and rear bumpers. This change was made in order to comply with new federal safety regulations. The other major change for the 1972 model was the discontinuation of the convertible model. Only 6,508 convertibles were sold in 1971, so Chevrolet decided to focus on the coupe and hatchback models.
