C3 corvette tire and wheel sizes 18 and 19
I have just done a complete suspension, brake, bushing, and steering upgrade to my Lt1. I installed van steel offset trail arms which relocated the E brake bracket. Now it is time to look at tires and wheel sizes. The plan for the car is street driving and autocross.
I have looked at other posts, but have not gotten a clear answer on what sizes I can run with out rubbing.
Questions:
will these fit?
what offset do I need?
does anyone have any pictures of what it looks like?
I am looking at:
275-35r18 front
295-35r19 rear

'89 vette wheels here on my '72, 2.5 inch spacers all around.....should say adaptors, as ten bolts to get to the rotors, each wheel...... 275/50 in rear, 255/50 in front....
tall asspect ratio because of bent rims on rough roads

I now have ridetech rear coil setup to allow wider rear wheels again without any modifications.
275 35R-18 tires are ~ 25.6" dia which lowers the car, Factory = 27" tire dia , My 275 40R-18 ~= 26.7" dia
So rear tires that match 25.6" dia are 315 30R-18 smaller or 335 30R-18 larger. which requires at best a 18x11 wheel with ~ 6" backspace which may not fit.
with 19" wheels. no good match to 25.6" dia that are wider , need taller tire so your 295 35R-19 ~ 27.1" dia much taller on the rear. wheel required ~ 19x11" wheel , smallest is 10" wheel but foot print will be very close to the 275 35R-18 tire.
I would find people that have 305 or wider tires for the rear to make it worth while of going wider on the rear.

To add to Cagotzmann I just did 18x9 with a 5" backspace " Zero offset" on the rear. I had to move the cable to the top.
I used a 275/40-18 tire and a small 5mm spacer so it's flush with the top of the fender. A lot of these cars are different and what works with one may not work on another.
So you can compare stock is 8" wide and a -12MM offset or 4" backspace.

Melting Slicks
Im running an 18" wheel front and back with 5" offset, 9" width forgeline wheels. I initially put 275/40 18 all around. The rears tuck in nicely inside the stock 72 fender flares, (wider than 68-69) But I had front tire rub on the frame when in a full lock turn. So I recently put a set of 255/40 18 on the front. Seems pretty darn nice. I have ridetech suspension including their offset rear trailing arms. I honestly do not think I could run a 295 and keep it inside the rear fender. I do not want to flare my fenders.
