Hood clearance questions with a supercharger
Thinking about getting a low-profile Weiand supercharger, and I know it wouldn't fit with the stock hood, but what about the Stinger hoods? I love the way those look, and a supercharger would be a good excuse to buy one.

I don't think that the Stinger Hood would be high enough...
Anyone know how big of a cowl I would need to fit it, then? Or if there's a company that sells taller Stinger-looking hoods? heh

Depends on what aircleaner you run...my Weiand 144 with K&N 4" filter (that's filter only) sticks 7.5 inches out of the hood on the leading edge (front edge). Deen

hmm, what if I were to get one of those setups like the newer TBI trucks have, where there's basically black plastic tubing that comes right off the TB and gets routed elsewhere? I think the piece only sticks up an inch or two, but I couldn't find a picture.

I assume you're talking about C-3's. I dunno about s/b's, but on b/b's an L-88 hood gives approx. 4" clearance over a stock s/b or b/b hood. In order to keep things under it on a b/b, the total height of the intake assembly cannot exceed 9 1/2 inches.
