Default Original engine?

Hello, I’m new to C3s. I’d like to ask if this engine is original to the car (71). Thanks.

Compare the numbers on he engine block (passenger side below valve cover) and the VIN Number located on the “A” Pillar. Just Google C3 Corvette matching numbers and VIN, The numbers and letters of the VIN also give details about the car.

Your VIN and engine stamp pad agree and look to be original. However, both are for a 1973 car. And you think you have a '71 C3? Does it have a rubber front bumper or a chrome front bumper? If it is chrome, a prior owner has tried to make a '73 car into a "chrome bumper" car.

That's because Eli's car is a '73.

Lol. Two separate posts! The second one was an example of what the OP should be looking for.

Lots of code tools are located here. Be sure to look for the trim tag in the driver side doorframe.

The answer for the 71 OP (poster #1) is it looks like it could be original but does have some modification (like headers). As mentioned by poster #2 and his 73 pictures, the VIN and engine code match is the way to check further. Got my laugh for the day...thanks guys!

I (jetning) am the OP. I did say 71.
Eli responded and posted pictures of the windshield and block VIN. He never stated what year his car is.
Thanks.

It's coded in the sixth digit of the VIN shown (3)!
