Default Idle issues

Hello,

I've got a 1972 corvette and have had her stored and sitting for a couple years, but now I’ve gotten her out for some fun again. I’ve given her a tune up and she runs strong, but I’m having trouble with the idle adjustment. I think I’ve got the carb dialed in really close to where I want it, but when it’s at idle or at a stop light, it’s idling very erratically and eventually wants to shut off. I have to keep my foot ready to tap the gas pedal to keep her running. It doesn’t always happen, but it’s been happening more often lately. Ive set the idle at the factory specs, but occasionally have to turn up the idle speed just so it won’t die. I don’t know what the problem is and could use some advice. Maybe it’s somehow getting too much air in the mixture?🤷‍♂️ Any help will be appreciated.😎

Do you have fresh gas in the tank?
Have you added anything to the gas to dissolve any fuel system deposits?
Automatic or manual?
Original Quadrajet or something else?
Describe in detail what you are doing to adjust the mixture screws?

check your intake manifold and carb mounting bolts . I just found most of my intake bolts loose,,,,very odd but ya never know. Then check your timing. I know mine reacts to timing changes and I have to adjust the idle set screw after adjusting it. It also will effect my idle quality when I come to a stop and the engine winds down when I push in the clutch

Yes, I have fresh gas in the tank and yes, I’ve put in some good fuel cleaning additives. It is a manual with a quadrajet carb.

Can you answer the question about the mixture screws?
