Default Four C Garage

This may not belong in the C3 Tech Thread. Please let me know if it needs to be moved.

I finally installed a lift so all my toys fit in the Toy Box: 1. 1965 Shelby Cobra Replica. 2. 1966 Laguna Blue Coupe. 3. 2017 Admiral Blue Coupe. 4. 1972 Mille Miglia Red Convertible

Please don’t judge the clutter LOL

The garage was designed that way with tandem parking/storage. A popular option is to have that area converted to an extra bedroom. We passed on that option. I warned space for cars, not guests. Lol

How does your wall air conditioner work? I thought about getting one for my two car garage in Georgia, but except for the metal garage doors, there is no wall insulation.

Not perfect, but I believe they make insulation panels for the garage door. Would love some A/C in the garage here in Texas too!

Gorgeous garage btw! Got me drooling!

Sorry for the slow response. It works great. Most of the walls are exterior and are cinderblock with no insulation. I live in Naples, so you can imagine it is a bit warm this time of year, but always cool in the garage. I bought a Mr. Cool, mrcool.com , at Lowe’s. It come precharged so no need to have someone come out to charge it. The install was simple and I did it myself in a day. The hardest part was the 4 inch hole needed in the cinderblock. I did have to add a circuit to the electrical box. Overall, I’m very happy.

I have something similar in my garage in CA. The previous owners of my house had one or more kids living in the garage. They drywalled it and added the wall unit. I've used it for longer projects in the summer, it'll cut the temperature a fair bit and help with humidity. It's not COMFY in the garage, but it's definitely a LOT better than not having it.

I also have a Concrete Block built shop and a Steel roll up Door. Generally in Seattle ( Till this year that when it got up to 112degs ) We are more interested in Heat not Cool. Since I don't open the Door much as long term projects lurk within I use a Tarp to cover the door and have a quick way to make it somewhat air tight. It makes all the difference as far as keeping heat. If I want it better I would use a second barrier just some painters plastic would do anything to stop air movement. And it can all come down in 5 Minutes to open the Garage Door when needed.

I like the set up and especially the 66. I have a Bend Pac four poster. On mine, I moved the motor and fluid tank to the inside post on the lift. If you have the option, it will give you some extra space on the right side of the lift. Jerry

Being in MN, I sheetrocked and insulated the garage the month after we moved in, then installed a nice ceiling heater. Since it does get warm in the summer months, I added a 230V wall mount A/C unit. It takes a while to cool it down in there, but it does make working in the garage much more comfortable.

I insulated my garage doors myself with 2 inch rigid foil sided insulation which works great for both summer and winter. I also use a portable window exhausted 10,000 BTU AC unit on very hot days but, mostly just a large commercial type floor fan, which also is VERY effective, on most hot days....
