My car sits far more than I drive it. I am much more concerned about moisture accumulation and arcing than dust making though a few 1/4 inch holes. I will see how it goes.

Coat your terminals where the wires go into the cap with Dielectric grease. You may be getting water going through the cap terminals. I also agree the caps with aluminum contacts for the rotor are cheap garbage.
