Whats the average dimensions of a hood and weight, etc, so i can get a quote on greyhound? I'm getting an aftermarket L88 long style hood for my '75.

I really do not know. But the hood is too large for UPS and FedEx. GreyHound goes by weight not dimensions. And it is slower. But less expensive. I did this for some rear window louvers to Texas two years ago. UPS and FedEx would not accept them as they were too wide for the ramps going into the aircraft.

The dimentions (in hood crate from Vanacor) is 50 long X 36 wide X 6 thick and it weighed 40lbs +/-.

Definitely do the Greyhound thing. I shipped a hood from NY to California for 45 dollars. Just got 2 boxes and spliced them together or go to a body shop near you and they will give you a box. Wrapped foam pipe insulation around hood and wrapped in plenty of bubble wrap and taped it up good. Went without a hitch. Wait until you see what the truck freighters will charge you, especially door to door instead of to a depot. Go Greyhound! Bill.

Bus lines are the cheapest way to ship something bulky point to point, I know a guy that shipped a short block on Greyhound, from Dallas to Lubbock Texas, (350 lbs)for $50.00. This was 7-10 years ago, I'm sure the price has gone up since then.
