'76 350 TRANY LEAK
I have a leak coming through the inspection plate on my 350 automatic. I assume it to be the front seal. What else would cause a leak in this area? Is the pump seal and the front seal one in the same on these trannys? :seeya

One and the same.Pump bolts have sealing washers, pump housing has a large o ring, and pump to case has a gasket. Most common problem is the front seal.

I assume the front seal cannot be fixed without pulling the tranny. I chased down all my tranny leaks, replacing almost all seals without pulling it. I am now down to losing about 1/2 ounce of fluid every week. Not bad, but you know how that must bother me; however, it doesn't justify pulling the tranny when it is working fine.
