C3 a pillar weatherstrip install question
After searching various threads on the A pillar windshield trim I am still unsure of one thing.
My question is: When installing the A pillar trim (stainless) retainer trim that holds the weatherstrip, do you screw the trim piece into windshield frame and then slide in the weatherstrip? Or do you install the weatherstrip in the retainer channel first and then screw it in through the weatherstrip?
Is glue used on the weatherstrip also?
Any help appreciated.
This is on a 1969 convertible, if it matters.

you screw the chrome piece down where you believe it goes.
you slide the rubber into the channel and see if your guess was correct,
meaning...does the window work well with were you have it? meaning does the rubber go all the way from the top to the bottom?
if not , pull the rubber out and adjust the chrome piece and try again.
once you get he chrome piece exactly where you want it, mark it and the pillar where it will go.
take it apart one more time and add rtv then put it back on the pillar and tighten it down. (rtv's not factory iirc but it cant hurt imho)
Now put the rubber back in and walaaaaa, it will be perfect...

CAMS69,
Thanks for the reply & info. Couple of other questions for you if possible:
For the 'inside' stainless trim piece that goes directly onto the windshield frame, is that where some have added body caulk or similar to the back side of it? Is that piece held on by maybe one screw until you finalize the location of the outer piece that holds the weatherstrip? Then screw the two pieces together to the windshield frame? Then slide in the weatherstrip is that correct?
And the RTV, where are you applying that exactly?
Thanks very much for the help.
