In the top picture in post #10 there are two leads going to the choke. On the Holley carburetor there is only one terminal. Can someone recommend the proper connection in this scenario? Recommendations for the fuel filter type and connections would be helpful as well. I was planning to bend the 5/16” steel tubing and configure the connections to accept a 1985 Corvette in-line fuel filter. I have included pictures of the Holley choke that I need help with connections as well as the fuel filter that I have ordered.

Your Avanti II is looking great. Looks like you're receiving lots of good advice here. My brother has a 1975 Avanti II, his came with a Chevy SB 400. A straight forward setup, just like a 1975 Impala.
If you have any other Avanti II questions, I'm sure my brother would be willing to help.
Below is a photo of his car.

Barry, Thanks you! Yeah, some of the most helpful and knowledgeable Chevy guys I've associated with are in this forum. That's a great picture of your 70LT and your brothers 75 Avanti II. I currently have a grey 1964 original Studebaker Avanti, a blue1970 Avanti II with factory corvette 350 stroked to a 383 and the red 1981 Avanti II that I'm trying to sort out the engine compartment, wiring and hoses. Here is my shop room with a view picture!

That's a great collection of Avanti's. Given the low production of Avanti's, you have managed to acquire three, the '64 being quite rare. Thanks for the picture, I'll forward that to my Brother. Barry

Nice collection

I guess its not uncommon to have Avantis and Corvettes. My wife has a 2008 Z51 in white with the tuxedo interior, I have a 1963 manual Avanti and a few years back acquired my dads 1969 Avanti II with the 327 Corvette engine. Its tired and I want to lower the body on the frame so I am installing a 1995 Corvette LT1 and a special built TH200-4R.

I have a question on your Avanti - where did they put the PCM? Or is it much smaller than the OBD1 units of the mid 1990's?

Thanks!

Tom

Hi Tom,
The PCM is mounted under the glovebox behind a small flap that matches the dash color.

That's all they did? Is it possible to get pictures? The OBD1 PCM is kind of bulky, though it DOES fit down the dash speaker hole. I was looking to put it behind the radio, but might not work due to the wiper arms. I do not see why no one has created a mechless stereo with a reduced depth.

If you are looking to modernize the brakes on your '64 or '70, let me know.

Thanks

Tom

On Board Diagnostics (OBD1) didn’t begin until 1988. The Avanti II was most likely an ECM. They are quite small and fewer functions than a PCM.
What do you mean by modernize the brakes? The brake system was ahead of it’s time in many respects. It is a Bendix dual piston fixed system.
What do you have for upgrading them?

That's what I figured, (smaller) but thought I'd ask. My 1986 IROC has the earlier OBD1 PCM, it's not as big, but still takes up decent room.

Years ago I designed adapters to install 4th gen (1994-2004) Mustang brakes on Studebaker spindles. This opens up a huge aftermarket.. Even 14 inch rotors and 6 piston calipers.
