Shifting intermittently "sticks" but only after warmed up (Muncie 4-speed)
My '70 Muncie 4-speed shifts fine, at first, but after about 15-20 minutes of driving, it will intermittently not want to go into gear (any gear). For example, I'll be at a stoplight and when I'm ready to go I'll press down on the clutch and try and put it in 1st gear and it wont go into gear. To try and get out of traffic, I'll try the other gears and I won't be able to get in 2nd-4th, either. After a minute or two of fighting it and pressing the clutch pedal in/out mult. times, it'll finally go into gear and everything will be back to normal. Any ideas???
Thanks!
Thanks!

Have you adjusted the clutch?
About 1 1/2" free play when pushing on pedal with your hand before hitting resistance.
Have you checked fluid level?
Nothing under the clutch pedal, floor mat?
Nut on Z-bar shaft to frame bracket loose?

I agree with Mel...I've had issues with shifting and most of the time it was clutch issues. Especially if you havent touched anything else. If you just reinstalled the shifter I would suggest using the nuetral alignment tool, both the muncie shifter and hurst had them, and make sure the linkage is in the right postion. If you ride it hard I would check the motor mounts and transmission mounts are not broken and are in the right place, if the motor shifts it will effact the linkage position. If you have an adjustable ball stud, check that to make sure it hasnt backed off.
