Possible Caliper Defect
Hey All,
Wanted to see if anyone else has ever run into this on a new caliper. I purchased the caliper from Zip Corvette for the rear of my 72. After painting the caliper, I noticed that the housing had a hole in the casting. I was told by Zip that these casting holes are common and will not adversely affect the caliper. Just wanted to get some input and see if anyone else has run into this and whether they experienced any negative affect. I should mention that it is a Lonestar caliper with O ring seals.

No leak should be fine

Mine are like that, too. It's not from the casting exactly, but from the two bolts that hold the halves together. There are no fluid passages in that part of the calipers, just structure, so no worries!

That hole is part of the casting. The hole is where the tap cut the threads in the casting. In production, it is easier to use a normal tap as opposed to a flat bottom tap that must be very precise in where it stops at the bottom of the hole. Jerry
