One-piece speedo cable length 78 Automatic
Hello all -
Headed to Carlisle next week. On my want list is a 1-piece speedo cable for my 78 Silver Anniversary, auto transmission. My Cruise Control transducer is gone hence the reason for the one-piece. Does anyone know the correct cable length? Searched the forum but didn't find the answer and the online parts stores have a couple different length cables.
Thanks

It will be difficult to find a speedo cable of that length...and the extra length on a single cable might cause some internal "whipping" of the cable and some 'waggle' on the speedometer needle. If the gear mechanism inside the cruise head is still operational, it might be better to re-connect the stock length lines back running thru the tach head.

So I looked through my stash of stuff and came up with a cable 72" long with a label on the bag marked for a 78. Has a shield on the end by the trans to form a bend. Zip has one for a 78-82 auto that is 64" long. They also have one marked 69-81 4 spd and auto that is 70" long. Your guess is as good as mine is right now. I can tell you that the one I have did work when I mocked things up in the car. But my mods called for a elec speed sensor and I just attached that to the cruise control so I kept the 2 cables. My extra cable is available at a good price if you are interested. Just PM me again. Good luck.
