Default Need heavy duty Throwout Bearing

Over 16 years now I have gone through at least 6 different TO bearings. They only last maybe 10K miles of aggressive driving. I use to use Hays, then Mcleod and lately Napa. My setup is aligned correctly. Does anyone know a really tough brand they can recommend?

Is it possible you are resting your foot on the clutch? I’ve never had a throw out bearing fail before the clutch did.

I have to think something is wrong. Not enough freeplay at the fork/bearing? Something out of alignment? Something. I've never had a throwout bearing fail myself, and although I have known a few people who have had one die. I've never heard of someone eating them up unless there is a issue.

You may want to have a read through this thread. It's in C1/C2, so you may have missed it.

Over 20 years of road racing and have never had a TO bearing fail. I agree with others that you have other issues.

So pulled tranny for the zillienth time and looks like you guys are right. TO bearing was fine no problems. Turned tranny shaft couple times and could tell something bad has happen after only 9K miles and $1000 rebuild. Hopefully its just a snap ring or something. M20 not very good for higher HP and torque. THX

I suggest Anaheim Gear.

What was the reason you thought the throw-out bearing was failing? Noise? Check the pilot bushing with a magnet. If it is magnetic replace it replace it with an oilite bronze one. That is your noise.

Something is making a noise when the car is in neutral and my foot is off the clutch pedal. Could that be the issue?

Not likely. Under those conditions the trans main shaft is not spinning in the pilot bushing. Sounds like a trans issue. Sorry for the misleading post.
