1971 corvette 454 4 speed 12.45 @ 113 on 18" street tires
Have been messing with this vette for a little while now finally have it running right thanks to new distributor and plugs and wires, I've done no carb tuning or adjustments. It's a ZZ454 GM crate motor, muncie 4 speed manual, stock posi IRS dif and stock suspension. The car is manual steering and manual brakes with no AC and no spare tire, other wise it's full weight and completely stock.
I was hoping to put some 15" slicks on the car before going to the track but I just didn't have time to get everything in order. Ended up taking it on street tires and the car REALLY surprised me! Made three passes, first one was a 12.98 at 109, terrible off idle launch, double clutched second gear. Second pass was a 12.45 @ 113 mph with a 2.0 60 ft. Third pass was a 12.62 @112 mph but I believe everything was still hot at this point. I felt great about those times so I left it alone and drank some beers and watch other folks have fun. I came from a C5Z that I raced alot but really didn't expect this old car to run what it did. If you race your c3 list your setup and 1/4 time.

Very good time, I agree, especially at that DA. Good driving, too.

1994 Consistent 12.30 seconds NHRA division 7 Craftsman Bracket ET second place. 1995 Consistent 12.08 seconds NHRA division 7 Craftsman Bracket ET track champion. 355 ci th350 with 3000 stall and 10X28 slicks. Oh 3.55 rear end.in 94 and 4.11 in 95
1996 11.70 Sacramento all Corvette drag racing class winner. th700R4 4.11 10X28 slicks. I was so tired of traveling to races and sitting in the hot staging lanes that I only went occasionally to events. Won Reno Hot August nights super street class running 11.70's
2007 10.96 not optimized for drag racing. not a well prepped track like NHRA events, Just took my 5 speed 434 to the Friday night open drag races and I got 10 runs in with 335 hoosier road racing slicks. Another guy here on the forum does 10.34 with his similar 434 and auto tranny

Nice pass on street tires, especially with a stick. That car would go high 11s on some 15" drag radials... Very cool. That's good performance out of a pretty mild engine.
Great color too...

Thanks man I really appreciate it! I just picked up a Drag Pack, old school Centerline Telstars so I'll be going back out soon with the 26" MT ET Street bias ply. I see you race all the time if you have any tips for me feel free to throw them my way. Especially anykind of c3 specific advice like suspension or ways to beef up the drivetrain to make it safe I'm all ears.

One of my best runs overall on that timeslip. The 1.69 short time really helps. This is on 275/60/15 MT drag radials. Its easier for me because of my TH350 trans, 3,000 stall and 3.73 rear.
Nice run with your car. 12.4 on street tires is quick. What rear gear are you running?

These D-5 compound are the low burn out. It seems to me that I used to get 100 runs on a set. I installed a line lock with our stock master cylinder for water burn outs. My advice is to buy a hand held practice tree. It gives you something to do while waiting.
