84 fuel pump in 82
I'm changing the 82 fuel pump out and putting in the 84 AC Delco EP386. Is there
anything that I need to know about wiring the new pump. I've heard mention of a wire that
needs to be soldered. What wires go where?

If it were me, I wouldn't put the 82 or 84 pump in your car even if stock motor. I would put the 85-87 TPI vette pump in it and regulate it to 13psi. BUT... if you don't know how long ago the TBs have been rebuilt or you do know and its been a long time I would at least do the bladder rebuild for sure on both TBs just to be on the safe side. The pump change is done from the top via the filler door on both vettes and is rather simple. Also the pumps are all direct fits and self explanatory, not soldering involved. One more thing, make sure you replace ALL the rubber o-rings on the tank bolts and if one is messed up or missing, replace it along with a new tank gasket. Check the short rubber hose going from the top of the tank to fuel line, if it looks even a little bit iffy, replace it and save yourself a lot of grief down the road. Hope this helps you out.
