1969 Gas pedal linkage question
Putting my 1969 gas pedal assembly back together and it doesn't look like the AIM
the top piece fits on the bottom, but how is it supposed to be secured. It came with a bolt
that squeezes the split part together, but it does not look stock
It is also missing a bolt that looks like it should hit the stop like the machine bolt in the picture
Any ideas?
Thanks

This may or may not be helpful, but that is the early 69 pedal design that is known for flexing and generally poor performance. You can get all the parts needed from the vendors to upgrade to the much better (IMO) one piece 69L design if you want.

Glenn,
Take a look at this ebay link.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Corvette-Or...53.m1438.l2649
This is any early 68 assembly, almost exactly the same as the early 69 assembly, except it also has a pin in the bracket. If you ignore that you can see how the rest is put together. What you
have is exactly what I have on my sept 11 68 built 69.

Burning Brakes
Well I'm not sure that it's that much better. Here's the one piece that came out of my '69 that had been modified presumably because of flexing. Although it would take a pretty heavy foot and an improperly adjusted throttle cable/linkage to bend the rod, it can be done apparently.

Drifting
I just just did a restoration on my early 68 pedal and after rebuilding got much better performance. The only bad is that the plastic replacement pedal support is crappy quality. I have a friend who I might have one machined out of aluminum or I might make it out of steel myself.
Here are some pictures for your reference

It would take a sasquatch foot to bend that iron bar, but I guess it could be done. But the late one piece bar is much sturdier than the earlier 2 piece flimsy deal and after years of playing with it, I changed to the one solid bar late style.
Much better......https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-restored.html
