Default Brought home a modified '79 coupe today. Awesome machine!

I found a deal that I just couldn't pass up, so my '68 now has to share the garage with another C3 :D The car was originally a black/black L-82 4-speed car, but it's been *tweaked* a bit.

It's sporting a 406 small block with a solid roller valvetrain, Richmond 6-speed transmission, and new 4.11 rear. The numbers matching L-82 350 (1000 miles on rebuild), Borg Warner ST-10 4-speed, and 3.70 rear were all included with the car. My garage and shed are getting crowded!

More details here: http://www.monstervette.com/79/index.htm

-Joe

Nice looking car! I wonder how those wire wheels will hold up to the torque of that 406 and the 4.11 gears? :D
Really nice addition to your stable!

SOunds like a nasty car!!!!! looks like its in really good shape too. But you gotta get rid of those wire wheels.

Do you every use first gear? with the 3.01 first and 4.11 rear end it sounds like it would be useless.

Other than the wheels, I say just drive the snot out of it and enjoy it!

Yea, I hear you guys about the wire wheels. I also have the stock '79 aluminum wheels, but I think something a little more modern might be appropriate. Maybe some 17" tires and wheels?

Has anybody ever exploded a wire wheel? I've been wondering about that myself

Mike, starting out in first is interesting. It takes off like a rocket, but the shift light is on in what feels like 2 seconds. I bet it could pull a great '60 at the track though. I have the stock 3.70 pumpkin, so I may try that next. I would like a 3.36 or so, but that may choke the high strung motor at highway speeds with the .62 overdrive.

Forget about the 406; They might have to deal with a 540 Merlin block! :)

Congrats Joe!!! You should have stopped at Etown on the way home. So lets see..... You got 2 engines with this car, + whatever parts you have accumulated for your Merlin... your original L36, you have 2 Richmonds, one new 5 speed and this 6 speeds...... You're halfway to your third vette already!! MJ

Heck just downshift. I don't think you would have too much of a problem going uphill in OD with the 4.11's.

Looks good Joe. :yesnod: I'd say ditch the wire wheels and drop the front end an inch or two. Those look like the wire wheels originally on my '70, except mine had spinners.

I finally sold them a few weeks ago---I got $400 incl tires. It took me about 6 months to unload them.
I like the hood too. :yesnod:

Nice car. Wheels are not my taste, a set of 17 inchers would be nice. Motor sounds real nice. Should make some good power.

Truth be told, I sold the 5-speed. I got it from the G-Force deal last year for $1400, so when someone offered me $2100 for it I let it go. I should have bought 5 of them suckers at that price!

I thought about stopping at Etown, but the car has no heat right now so I was FREEZING
