On behalf of the silent majority, I want to say THANKS FOR BEING THERE.
It takes a special person to stand behind a badge and place your life on the line 24/7.

Where is Beardstown? Our jurisdiction is all of Cook County (including Chicago...although we leave that to CPD...they are welcome to it! :U

No problem Henry. I enjoyed what I did while I was on the job. But after 22 years it gets pretty depressing and you really start to feel you aren't making a difference at all. You see the same people committing the same crimes over and over again. Called the "revolving door syndrome". Into jail, out of jail, into jail, out of jail..etc. etc. I'm glad I'm retired now.
I don't even want to think about the "war on terrorism". We already fought and lost two "homeland" wars (war on poverty, war on drugs). Now we are starting another one that is probably unwinable.

Dep, I feel the same way, veteren of Wash d.c. area wars on everything for 40 cognitive years....and seeing nothing done....

Hours of boredom intermixed with moments of terror. Always dealing with the dark corners of our society. I can't say enough good things about the Law Enforcement Officers of our country. :flag

I always shoot first......Better judged by 12 than carried to the grave by 6.....If they survive my barrage of bullets, they probably weren't guilty. :D :seeya Cappy
