Default 1977 Battery Small Ground Wire

I hope someone can help with my '77 that I am fixing up, I haven't had much luck searching for an answer... I am wondering where the small(red) ground wire attaches. I have read it attaches in the the battery box, but I dont know where and cant seem to find a pic of it. My assembly manual doesn't even show it.

Thanks

I suspect that is a universal, one size fits all cable, that was suppose to be used as a positive cable. Hence the red on there. Someone has installed it in the Negative position. There is no need for the small wire. Battery box is "fiber" anyway.

Ditto. Main battery wires for Corvette are all black. But the positive wire might have a smaller additional wire coming from the + battery terminal. Someone put a + cable on the negative side.

Just cut that extra red wire off.

OK thanks. That is what was confusing me, I thought read some random post in the past (with no pics) saying it was a battery/chassis/body ground in the battery box, but like you said, its all fiberglass which didn't make sense. I'll cut it off and call it good.

Thanks!

This works for me. Plugged into the cigarette lighter. Nice write up.

you run a big green wire the length of the hull and ground everything that goes through fiberglass to salt water. oh, that's right. this is a car...
