Default Carter M4889 rebuild kit? Help!!

I can't locate a service kit for this pump. I just started up the 454 in the BBC swap into the 76 and I see 112 octane fuel running all over the garage floor. Grrrr... Then to add insult it looks like there is no service parts available. WTF???

I know this is an old thread, but I found it because my Carter 4889 mechanical fuel pump needed a rebuild. For whatever reason, there is nothing around as a rebuild kit for this specific pump, but Carter apparently used the same pump body, valve configuration, diaphragms, etc. for Ford mechanical fuel pumps in their BOSS 302 & 428/429 BOSS and CobraJet engines from 1967 & up. These pumps have screw together bodies like the 4889.

I purchased a rebuild kit from AMK for $38 listed as a Ford mechanical fuel pump rebuild kit and rebuilt my 4889 pump this weekend. Everything was exactly the same and fit together great. I think the pump levers were different between the Fords and Chevrolet’s but otherwise the same pump.

Just wanted to put it out there and hopefully help others.
