No More Vette
So...my wife and I bought a 76 Vette in May off of one of her "friend's" husband. He was convinced this car was worth $14,000 and thought he was giving us a "good deal" by selling it to us for $7,250.
I admit to knowing nothing about cars, let alone corvettes when we bought it. However, through a lot of reading and this board, I think I have come a long way.
As most off you have seen, I have had numerous problems with this car since we bought it. It has been up in PA for the past month where I have had it checked out by several corvette mechanics....
Needless to say, they found A LOT more wrong with it than I originally I thought, all of the wiring is bubbaed, all of the bushings are dry rotted, the windshield frame is rusted through, etc, etc, etc.
So, next weekend we will be giving the vette back to our "friend". I admit we were foolish to buy a car, knowing nothing about it....but when this friend said there were just "minor repairs" needed, I believed him.
So I will be going through withdrawal until I find the right vette for me....
I got hooked real fast and can't wait to get a good one.....

For one reason or many, it was meant to be. Best of luck in your search for another. And never fear asking the opinion of Forum members! There is an unbelievable amount of knowlege here (and opinions too!).

You're luckier than most folks...in many cases it's "As is -- All Sales Final."
BTW: If the guy won't give your money back, try squeezing him for a few grand so you can bring the car up to the level he "claimed" it to be...
