76 speedometer cable confusion
I'm replacing the cable in my vette and when I look online I see that there are an upper and lower cable, I don't know what the differences are and was hoping someone could clear this up

Upper is from back of dash, through firewall, to Cruise Control unit.
Lower is from C.C. unit to tranny.
If you no longer want the CC, just order a long one piece cable and by-pass it.
Added: My CC was missing several parts and I no longer wanted it anyway. So I ordered a Speedo Cable for "Non-Cruise Control" which is longer. Make sure you clip, fasten or zip-tie the new cable away from the exhaust.
When you remove the cable from the back of the dash, there is a sliding clamp to release it. Have a helper pull the old one out, then slide in the new cable through the grommet and clip it. You will only be able to get one hand in there.
