Default What are the details on "Correct" carpet for a '69

Guys,

Looking for some clarification on what is correct carpet for my 1969 coupe.

First off... there appears to be 2 different designs going around for the rear compartment. I've spoken to both Al Knoch and Auto Custom Carpets and both claim that their carpet is correct. See these links below of 2 claimed "Correct" carpet designs. **Note the "Wings" on the top Auto Custom carpet design for the rear storage area, while the Al Knoch is a simple "T-shape".

AUTO CUSTOM CARPET 1969 Coupe

AL KNOCH DESIGN - 1969 Coupe

Secondly, what other aspects of the carpet come under scrutiny with NCRS judging (driver side foot pad design, loop height, edge sewing etc.), and who makes the closest to originally correct repro-carpet?

Thanks!
Rick

Your first picture with ACC carpets is for a convertible.

Your second picture with Al Knoch carpets is for a coupe.

Here is a reference site for you:

Hi sck,
The difference in the configuration of the carpet that runs up the rear compartment's rear bulkhead has to do with the position of the astro-vent 'flapper' mechanism on convertibles as compared to coupes.

The 'dip' that's cut across the top edge of the convertible carpet is so it ends below the astro mechanism.
Regards,
Alan

As bad as I hate to go against the grain, the upper picture is correct for both coupe and convertible... 1968-1970. Yes there are two designs.. right and wrong.

I did some extensive research on this about two years ago with verified original carpet sets. Below is the thread from this forum that I posted seeking help with this research.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...68-1977-a.html

The carpet set made by ACC is 100 percent correct and was actually patterned off the original set that I sent to them to correct their molds. I've never published all my findings on the tech site but I guess enough time has passed that I'll find the file and put it up on there... All the rear (and front) carpets have been verified from 1968-1977 and for that matter, 1978-82 as well.

Here is the link to the original file I sent to ACC.
