82 owners, step inside ,got some questions.
This is kinda ot but I own an 82 Z28 Pace car and I am having some problems that you might relate to.I have a fuel pump that seems to freeze up if I let the car sit for more than a month or so.It majically starts working after a week of trying to start it  .Next ,It has the flipper flap direct induction on the hood .It doesnt work and I have been told that a switch controlls this .I think that the same switch is found on the 82 vette hood. What does it look like ,do they still make it and when does it open? :seeya

I don't think that the 82 vette had a door for the hood. it is just a cold air intake.
I will look tomarrow to be sure...
As for the fuel pump, just replace it, and end your headache

All 1982 Corvettes have a forced-air door. If you look at the underside of your hood, there is a seal. It seals around the open area of the air cleaner. The door (flap) opens on full throttle by a solenoid. There's an accuator bar connected to it. It ONLY opens on FULL throttle.
Hope this helps.

Don't know if this will help but I had an '85 Camaro that ate a fuel pump while the car was still under warranty. The mechanic said that there was a problem with the original design so GM went with a two rotor pump. Your car may have the original pump.
