New vette guy's first post
Hello all! I've been reading posts here for a while and I've already learned quite a bit. I'm now ready to join in and start posting.
I recently bought a '76 Yellow coupe that I absolutely love! This is my first vette. It was in ok shape when I drove it home, but that night the starter solenoid began a two week long troubleshooting hunt that I finally figured out. The simple accomplishment of replacing the starter and the excitement I felt when the vette promptly started convinced me I had found the car I was meant to drive.
Since then, I've replaced the intake and carburetor, valve covers, throttle linkage and trans kickdown cable, and shifter. It runs much better than it did at first - I can actually get WOT now!
Well I could until I tore the interior out. The cracked dash pad was constantly sending dust into my eyes and the tach didn't work, so I started an interior restoration that turned into a full-blown interior customization project. I can't wait to finish this project, and I'm getting very anxious to drive my vette again :mad :cry .
My next project will be to install the steeroids that I'm getting ready to join in on the joint purchase of. Can't hurt since the power steering cylinder is leaking like crazy. Well I gotta hurry and post on the group purchase thread.
Chris

Welcome aboard and congrats on your purchase. If you were female, you would already have a dozen messages welcoming you to the forum.
Such is life.
And, we all love pictures . . . even those of us on dial-ups.

Thanks guys! Y'all are fast!
mrvette: I graduated from OPHS in '89, so I know OP well! You did a custom steering job? Impressive' I'll have to visit to see that!
I've got some pictures, just not digital. I'll work on that though, I've got a digital camera around somewhere...
Thanks,
Chris

Beware of the restoration devil. He conspires with your car late at night to lighten your wallet and checking account, they have a new friend called Mr. SUMMIT Racing devil and he's killing me.

OPHS eh?? well judging from the motley crew I see around here, you have my sympathies....;-))).....now which college you go to/been to??...
One of my son's local friends here just graduated from there I think....
I moved here in may '97, from up north....semi=retirement...so to speak..

Re: New vette guy's first post (mrvette)
I hear OPHS changed alot in the early nineties - it wasn't that bad when I was there, really... ;)
I finished FCCJ (mostly Kent campus), and then started at UNF, but I had to quit because the workload was too much in conjunction with real work.

Welcome :seeya , You'll soon find out you don't have any spare time anymore. What free time you did have will be split between the forum and mods to your car. Your wife/GF will think you've got a hussy stashed in the garage and your kids will start calling you "Uncle Daddy"
