Anybody Running 15x9 Wheels On Rear?
I think I can get a 15x9 wheel with 5 1/2 backspace under the rear.
Anybody have this size wheel?
Can you tell me what backspace that you are using?
Also your clearance to suspension components?

I have MT 295 55 15 drag radials right now, been on for seven years. No clearance issues at all. Still have the rear VB sway bay, VB 360 lb spring.
Clearance to spring end, sway bar, and frame are all aprox. 1/2 inch. My only real complaint is the tire sticks out past the fender about an inch. If I had 275 60 15....I don't think it would bother me at all.

Hey MP thanks for the response. I'm running a 1/2 inch spacer on my car. So effectively I'm looking at a 5 inch backspace. I have 1/2 shorter spring and Global West trailing arms. I'll be using 275-15s. I'm using 245-15 now. My tires stick out slightly as well. The 4 1/2 backspace wheel would stick out more because of the different center line of the wheel.
So I'm hoping the 5 1/2 wheel fits.

Running Weld Draglites 15x9 with 5 1/2 backset. Had to use a VB&P 1 1/4 inch wheel adaptor to make up the difference, so the effective backset is 4 1/4".

The Welds have a flat mounting surface, so there is no caliper clearance. Had to run a 1/2 inch spacer just to clear the brakes. The other issues with 15 inch wheels is the edge of the rim sits right about even with the end of the spring. I felt I needed 1/2 inch to keep the spring under compression, from hitting the edge of the rim. Then there's the frame and sway bar...also happened to be about 1/2 inch from my current 4 1/4 inch backset. The best I might be able to get away with I think would be a 4 1/2 inch backset wheel,....which I couldn't find that I liked.
So....5 1/2 inch Welds, with a 1 1/4 inch adaptor,...for a total backset of 4 1/4 inches.

I have corvette alum. Wheels widened to 9". I use a 1/2" adapter yielding 4-1/2" back space. With a 275x15" tire I had to shorten my fiberglass spring 1" for clearance.

Update on Tire/Wheel Fitment
I went ahead and purchased the 15 x 9 wheel with a 5.5 backspace. I have to use a 1/2" spacer on the wheels that I'm using so the actual backspace is 5". I mounted the wheel and a 275-60-15 tire this morning. I did a trial fit on the car. Here is what I found...
The longer spring bolts have to be cut about an inch or so to keep from hitting the tire inner sidewall.
The Global West parking brake bracket has to be relocated.
The parking brake cable had to be shortened to keep the parking brake operational. I had shortened the cable previously when the trailing arms were installed.
So it looks like a little work and I'll be in business.

Do you think 255/60/15 would have cleared?

The wheels that I have/like don't come in those new modern sizes. I'm keeping it old school for now. I'll upgrade to the bigger wheels and tires one day. For now I'm sticking with the 15's.
Your car looks fantastic!

What size do you like ? Is it the taller profile. The main reason I went to 18" is to get better rubber. such as Michelin Super Sports and Nitto NT01's.
in 15" all I can get is BF Goodrich Radial TA's and these suck for track use.
I still have my 255 60R 15 TA's but I use them for winter storage of the car.

I purchased some Mickey Thompson S/T radials in 275-60-15. I bought them at Summit. I really like these tires but I don't race. I just cruise and occasionally raise a little hell. I wanted the look of wider tire under her.
