Default How much fuel will come out of hose

Can anyone tell me how much fuel is likely to come out of the S Hose once I remove or cut it from the hard line that comes from the gas tank? Will it like, drain the tank? I can pinch the hose and then cut it, but I'll still have to remove it from the hard line at some point while replacing the pump. Thanks

you have the nose jacked up to remove the hose/pump so not much is going to come out. Leave a small piece on and insert a bolt to stop any seepage.

A golf tee plugs the hoses nicely for the brief period you work.

Hi K,
Resist the urge to crimp the hoses closed with something like a vice-grips.
Their serrated surface can cut the surface of the hose which can lead to a leak at some point.
The gulf tee is a good idea.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

A C-clamp for short time it should not be harmful if tank's hose is in decent shape

I just use a vacuum cap on the main hardline. Pop the hose off and slap on the cap. You will loose very little fuel.

Planned on taping the teeth on the vise grips and hopefully they will not be on there long. Also, the hoses will be replaced at this time.

A medium sized C-clamp will close off the hose. I would definitely plug the end or clamp it off to prevent flow. It could syphon the tank down.

Lots of fuel will flow if uncapped/clamped. Plastic line clamps for the purpose are not expensive, but vice grips, particularly if taped, and not applied to stupidly tight, work fine. As does a bolt or similar in the end with the hose clamp tightened on it.
