Has anyone ever installed a GOOD set of air shocks in there C3?
I thought about this on my way home from work today as I was driving my Vette. Has anyone ever done this? I used to set these up in my hot rods back in the old days..

i think if you do it just to raise up the rear end, then you could get into some drivability problems, but if you want the nice ride thats fine. i was contumplating air bags for a nice ride and to lower it but it would be expensive as hell. good luck.

Nick,
Check with these guys. Don't know if they have ever done vettes, but they would be the ones to ask.

I slapped a cheap set of Gabriels ($60) on 4 years ago and it rides much better than with regular shocks and my tired old spring. I got tired of my pipes hitting everytime I got near a bump let alone hitting one. No more hitting or bouncing.

Thanks Joe and Fevre
I'm going to be replacing my shocks over the winter and I have given this swap some thought. Easy way of controling the height without going nuts. One of my last cars had a set and the ride was nice and firm without being hard..

Outside of your super expensive ones.. I think that if you don’t go crazy putting too much air in, the ride and handling would be as good as any other good quality shock.

I also put a set of Gabriel gas shocks on the front at the same time. Had a fellow forum member with a near mint 82CE compliment me on how nice my car rode. Of course, hit a bump and she rattles something awefull. :)
My air shocks might be monroe but i know they where the cheapest ones the store had.

Fevre; the Gabriels ($60) you put on are air shocks? I have been thinking about it too but wasn't sure if I could.
My issue is I have 295/50/15 tires on the back that stick out past the fenders. I'm trying to get it so the rear end doesn't hit at high speed cornering or bumps.
So you think the shocks would solve my problem?
