Thanks guys!! It was a lot of fun. It was getting hotter on the runway and I wasn't sure it was going to pull it off in the heat. I hadn't driven these rear tires except on the trailer before doing my license run, so I had no idea how much power they could hold. The first run was 184 MPH for the license. Then I made a harder pass at 195.8 but it was pretty slippery. I tried some different shift points to stretch it out a little more and looks like it was JUST enough!!
I'm going to make another hit tomorrow when hopefully it's a little cooler and see what happens.
Everything has run fine. Haven't touched it until this evening to pull a couple of plugs to ck them out. Look good so I left everything alone. Still running PS hooked up and my big 'ole flex fan!

Next goal is to get that 8 second 1/4 mile timeslip on April 9th!

Yep! That's the number I had heard on Yellow Bullet forum.....didn't want to rain on your parade! I did 189 in my C6Z06..... can only imagine the experience in a C2 Roadster! Might be time to look into SCTA events on the dry lakes to get in with the crowd before getting a Bonneville jacket. Great Job!

You are the C2 Whisperer....
Crazy to do that on a Potenza RE050...those are Summer radials...lol.. you'd probably run 10 mph faster on Hoosiers. (If they allowed them). At a minimum, I would have liked to seen you on R888s.
This truly shows the potential still lingering in your car. Ultimate street car on the planet.

Wow. Congratulations Jim. You have made some amazing accomplishments with that car. So it's a 200 mph, potentially 8 second, street driven C2! I don't usually use exclamation points, but this certainly warrants one.

Here's a couple more pics....and a video from one of the runs in the 190's.
Today I tried a couple of different strategies...some worked...some didn't. I picked up 7-9 MPH in the 1/4 mile (135 and 137.6 as compared to the 128.8 on the "good run) by controlling the spin a lot better....but spun tires like crazy through the midrange and ended up with the only 165.5 and 168.4 MPH at the 1/2 mile. That ended with a 193.8 and a 197.2 final speed.
The 193 MPH was me trying some crazy shifting. Since 4th gear is now an O/D and 5th is still 1 to 1, I decided to try a 1-2-3-5-4 shift sequence to reduce the RPM drop going into O/D and stretch things out a little better. Well....the added torque multiplication just made it want to spin a lot more and then I was really slow making that 5-4 shift because all I could think of was accidently sticking it back in 2nd gear at about 180+ mph. I got it into 4th...but it took a while and showed up on the time slip.
Decided to call it a day. Everything was still in one piece and running great and I had a 200 MPH T-shirt and certificate!

Here's a tale of the runs.
Left to right.
184 MPH- had to make a License pass between 180-199 MPH. I got to speed a little before the 3/4 mile mark and just hung there until the end.
195 MPH- Did about the same thing as the first pass...but put my foot in it at the end.
200 MPH. Did a little better off the line...a lot better in the midrange by short shifting it into 4th and letting it grunt. Seemed to control wheelspin better and I just squeaked the 200 MPH number!
197 MPH- got a handle on the launch a lot better....picked up nearly 9 MPH in the first quarter mile....then blew it with wild tire spin and pedaling it in the midrange but still got to 168 MPH by the half mile mark.
193 MPH- tried my funky shifting plan. Had a good first 1/4 mile.....but wheelspin came back pretty bad and then took way too long to decide I was in O/D and couldn't make it up by the end.
Now if I could combine all the good parts of these runs into one I'd be flying!! Good runs had it picking up 31-32 MPH in the last half mile and the worst ones were 28-29 when I was trying goofy stuff.
Or if I had some stickier rear tires! When I did the half mile event a few months ago with drag radials I was hitting 176-177 MPH at the half.
But it was fun...not like lots of folks weren't overpowering their tire too.
