Default Stinger Hood vs Hi Rise

I am considering a new hood for my 1976. Choices are the Stinger hood or the hi-rise hood made by Ecklers. The pictures are not helpful in deciding. If any can post or email a picture of their C3 with either hood I would be grateful. Thanks

I got the L88 hood with fresh air intake from J.C. Whitney. Sorry, no pictures yet. I couldn't be happier. The fresh air is really noticable in horsepower at the right foot.

Do you have any clue who makes that hood for JC Whitney? I called them about that and the two guys I talked to wouldn't, or couldn't, answer.

No indications anywhere on the hood or the box that it came in as to who actually made the hood for J.C. Whitney. It was shipped from Chicago with J.C. Whitney's return sddress..

Does the Stinger hood replace the wiper door?

My 73 doesn't have a wiper door,but Eckler's part # is the same for 68-76
I'm guessing but it must eliminate the wiper door

The J.C.Whitney hoods are made by Legendary Fiberglass Parts out of PA.
I've seen a couple of posts in the past that stated they had his stickers stuck on them-----so I think this info is correct ! Legendary is always at Carlisle and has great products. The owner----Larry is a great guy, easy to deal with-----made me a custom spoiler for an awsome price !!! I'll try to find his info and post it tomorrow. Rick :chevy

On a '68='72 you have to lose the wimper, I mean wiper door and recontour the fenders a little to make the tops of the fenders like a '73 up. Personally I prefere the...well just look.

I believe the Hi-rise has the most clearance(4 1/2"), the L-88 the second(4 1/4") highest, and the 'stinger' has less than the other two(?").
They ALL look good, though.

Looks awesone. Great job. I am especially happy to see a solid color. My beast is white with buckskin interior. I was concerned about a color for the stinger and scoop. Yours looks great with the solid color. Nice car.

I am also ready to put a new hood on my 76. A saw a few other posts that said the only place to get a hood was eklers. (Quality reasons) is that not true? I don't know which I like better, the stinger or the l-88 and will be ordering soon.

Are the JC whitney hoods high quality?

My J.C. Whitney hood fits the hood opening. That said, any fiberglass hood, factory or aftermarket, will require some amount of shimming to fit correctly. All of the nut plates were in the correct location and clear. The outer glasswork was ready to be cleaned, scuffed and painted. The inside glass was not up to the quality that some might want, but the glass was sealed 100 percent.
They also offer a high rise hood.

to me it would depend on the color of your car. a bright yellow car with the stinger painted black would be very
