Seasonal Rides...When do you put your baby to bed??
My folks take off to FLA. in mid October so I use thier place to store the roadster for the frosty Canadian winter (gives me more room in my garage to work on the sleds) When do you guys put yours away? Do you use heated storage? Any special services your perform for hibernation? Share your secrets.....

He he he. I've never put my toys away for winter (except for my skiboat). Down here in the Deep South we don't hafta worry bout that. On the occasional pleasant winter day, I've been known to take the tops off and go for a cruise.

I take the lazy way out. I basically do nothing. But, mine sit on carpet in a heated garage. During the winter, if there is a decent day and the driveway is dry, I'll take them up and down the driveway a few times.
In the spring, once a good rain has washed away the tons of salt they use around here, I'll change the oil and go cruisin'.

First winter for it after actually running all summer! I like to start it and, if possible, drive it once a month. Will go with gas stabalizer this year. Winters have been pretty mild lately but might throw it up on stands for Jan and Feb.

I was it up, pull the distubes of the sidepipes, throw some mothball in the along with some in a margarine container in the interior, pull the battery then put the cover on her and let her rest up for next spring. I usually do it for October 31st

I'm putting my baby to hibernation at the end of september, still couple of weeks to go... I have heated garage, so I don't have to worry about the car being in snow. I might put her to stands. I'm not sure yet am I going to start her about once in a month or do I put some motor oil in from spark plugs and let her be guiet... I guess I'm putting her to sleep with full tank of gasoline, maybe with stabilizer. Must things to do is to change oils and radiator fluid.
Hey you guys in south I'm jealous because you don't have real winter! Can I come to there too? I'd like to get rid of the winters... :smash:

the only time this shark sleeps is when there is snow on the ground. she sleeps in a garage , but i frequently go visit her once or twice a week and let her run for a bout an hour or so .

when the salt hits the streets..... i don't do anything special for winter because even if there is snow and salty streets, i run mine up and down my 60 ft driveway every 2 weeks, just to keep the seals, etc from shrinking. last winter was so mild i drove it once a week, and drive with the tops off once in january and february, just to say i had done it.

Stays awake all year long. But my AC works great when the temp starts a dropping. Should put it away for the Summer and drive in the winter.

Mine goes away the end of September. I change the oil, then put it in my shop which is heated and the floors are rugged. It also has a full basement so there is no dampness. I put it on 4 tall jackstands, pull the valve covers and back the rockers fully off. I cover the car will old sheets. I do not start it again until next april. This winter I will change the rear end from 4.11's to 3.08's, install my trick Nascar power steering pump , install a new fiberglass front bumper and do a perfect alignment of the complete drive train.
I am looking forward to start tearing it apart.

thamzid - I hear that - I drive a topless '72 Blazer most of the time - I always tell be the AC worked good this morning but it kinda petered out by mid afternoon. Nothing like hopping in our vehicle smearing on a little sun screen and hitting the road.

I usually go to 3 different Halloween Cruise-in's toward the end of October, then they are locked up in a detached double car garage untill next March...
I have never done anything special to store them, except fill the gas tanks, and disconnect the battery... It's been that way for over a dozen years now, and never any problems..... Geeze I hate winter.....

I store mine in my Mom's garage.
I spray Foging oil into the carb till it sputters, the kill the engine, pull the plugs and spray more into each clyinder.
Then I disconnect the batt, lock the car and cover it.
Wife has to drive home tho since I'm curled up with my blankie :jester

Mine went away just under two years ago.
Here's what I did to prep: Pull body, split in two, grind rust, break any weak bolts,
swear :cuss , crack the windshield, swear more :cuss :cuss , fill the interior
with other items that need storing, allow a protective coating of dust to
settle over everything, and install the snow plow frame on my wife's Blazer.
You guys down south can have the warm winters, as long as we keep the
relatively cool summers. The change of seasons in the northeast is one
thing that I will never give up. Someday, I would like to take the vette
out onto frozen Lake Potanipo - like the Volvo that was cruising around
at last years ice fishing derby (in the rain - on ONLY 8" of ice). Try that in GA !!
