Default Starter issues

Hey guys I've recently had a problem with my starter after swapping my 360 for my 383. I find that my engine starts fine until when I'm adjusting things like idle, and what not, and I let it dies out on me. If the engine dies on me and I try to start it again I can hear one *tunk* which I'm assuming is my starter hitting my fly wheel but not matching up with the teeth resulting in it not turning. This happened a few times with my 350 every once in awhile (different starter) but I had the idle and choke set nice so it hardly ever died out on me.

What do you guys think?

Edit: allowing it to site for 10 mins or so will let me start it again.

Sounds like the starter is getting too hot due to heat from your headers. There is a blanket and a heat shield for that
