Smoking a Ricer!
I had the task yesterday of showing a young ricer kid the difference between a 16 valve 4 banger and 467 cubes of good old fashioned HP! He was right on my bumper through trafic and thought he might like to race me, he pulled out to pass and I don't know if he hit his NOS button but I hit 2nd then third and in my mirror was his little car with my spent fumes choking him. I felt kind of bad for him, but it was my duty to show him what real power is!!! Long live big cubes :smash:

As much as I rag on my ride...
I sure beat the hell out of those little ricer pests. :)
One guy with a GSR was sure he'd beat me. He even got a nice shrieking start... too bad he was burning rubber while I was on the other side of the intersection.
Wrong wheel drive + skinny tires + clutch drop != good launch.

Thanks to the movie "The Fast and the Furious" my 12 year old son thinks these "Ricer" cars are the best thing on earth! I have told him that when the NOS bottle in there cars runs out, my BB will still be flying! I guess its time to take him out and run through the quarter mile, then we will see what he thinks!

RATMAN - Tell your son to watch the WHOLE movie. He obviously missed seeing the ONLY REAL car in the whole movie. It's towards the end. When the undercover cop asks Vin Diesel why he doesn't drive it, he says "I'm skeered of it". Know what I'm sayin?

My 10 year old laughes at the ricers. His favorite line is " Dad show them what a real car can do !" When we watched the "The Fast and the Furious" together he wanted to know what kind of car that black car was.
I told him a 68 Dodge Charger then proceded to pull out the old photo album and show him pictures of the 68 & 69 Chargers I once owned. Now he keeps the photo album in his room. Thats my boy!! No rice moblie for him! :D

Good job teacher - time for torque 101 for ricers. :yesnod:
Three times now, I have had a ricer at 55 or 60 downshift and try to race. I just leave it in 4th and walk away from them. Oh the joy of a 450hp+ small block.

Nice, gotta teach the rice boys a lesson. When I first got my Vette, stock motor no major modifications, I was getting buzzed by these guys on a daily basis, even had a 92 Cavalier stay on my bumper when I hit the gas.
Since then I have got my motor built up to a point where the sound of the idle at the lights scares them away, not to mention blowing a few off the road. THe word gets around in Riceville and in the past year I have not had one ricer pull up beside me rev his sewing machine.
Kind of miss it actually, just when I bought a 250 HP NOS Cheater system too :D

I really liked the part at the end when the Toy car was racing the Charger, that quarter mile lasted for about 3 minutes but sure was fun. Oh and the sound of the motor, you can't get that with a 16v 4 banger!!! Long live old fashioned HP!

I must live in the boone docks of the USA.
The so called "Ricers" that you speak of have not made a major apperance in Iowa yet as far as I can tell.
I see a few Honda Civic's running around with a polished pop can for a muffler but I have yet had one challange me in my 68 Rally Sport Camaro.
(Don't have the 69 big block done yet)
They all sound like a garbage disposal on wheels.
The first guy that challanges me I think I will ask if he fed the squirels under the hood that morning!!!
Then he will probably blow me away.
Na, can't happen.

Re: Smoking a Ricer! (467-Ratman)
I'll admit that smoking ricers if fun, i do it regularly with my vette and i'll admit i get a good laugh out of it. But then again i also own a ricer for my daily driver and it is fun laying an a@@ whooping on stangs and camaros and the ocasional vette. Being young to its funny to lake an older guy to school when he thinks i'm just some punk kid trying to race my family car that just happend to have a loud exhaust on it. Oh and the four doors don't really give out the "FAST" appearence. There is alot to be said for over 100hp per litre on a stock engine. By the way its a wrx and with all wheel drive you have got to be good to beat one out of the hole. But all in all i have to agree that there IS NO replacment for displacment and if there was a decent all wheather big V8 chev i'd be the first in line to get one. SO keep kicking ricer butt, beacuse most are generally annoying but there is the odd one that can really put down some fast times...
