I have an '81 with the composite spring and it broke in the same place shown here. As far as I know my spring was the original with 46k miles on it. I removed it today and will order a new one tomorrow.
Van Steel wants $399.99 for a Hyperco Easy Ride Rear Spring - Composite.
Anyone know where I can order a Hyperco one cheaper? Wherever I order from I would expect them to have it in stock and not have to wait a month for it to be shipped.

I had that same spring and it cracked at the end horizontally. I just happened to notice it while working on something else. I try and check it every oil change or if I remember when I'm under the Vette.
