Default temp control cable

Im installing a new temp control unit and cannot figure out how the cable is installed. I see the slot for the cable's tab to fit in but I cant figure out how the end is attached to move the cable in and out. Thanks guys.

I bought the car without it working so I dont have a reference to go by.

Try looking at some of Willcox diagrams, they sell the parts and have some very help full drawings. I did what you are trying to do with parts from Willcox a year ago or so but had the advantage of taking the old parts apart first.

Sorry, appears Willcox with it's new web site has stopped their help diagrams.

I am looking at our old Mitchell books....

No diagrams or photos but a brief paragraph saying the cable has a loop.
It says to slide the lever all the way to one side then snap in the cable. sliding the lever back allows the loop to catch.

I think you may have the wrong cable. there should be a coil (loop) in the cable and a post it wraps around on the slider. look at the photos in step 3 here. does that help?

I showed my techs your photos and they seem to agree that there should be a loop. it appears the slider has been modified to clamp around the cable. Does that appear to be the case?

The d shaped end should slide into that slot just above it int he picture and the slot should snap it into place.

clear as mud.

To make this cable work...you would have to change out the HOT/COLD lever that has the correct provision in it to accept the cable end you have now.

http://www.zip-corvette.com/catalog/...control-lever/

It has been along time since I have taken the control assemblies apart and modified them...BUT I do know the 1977 was unique...so you might find that you might need an entire new control head assembly.

Soon, Very Soon.. The info is still there but it's been split off to another website.

The active link is not up on the front page yet but with good reason! The sort isn't working correctly and I didn't want to release it until it was. I think I may put up a temp link for everyone sometime tomorrow evening.... I hope.
