I quit buying BFG's a long time ago..... They don't wear well for me, same with Goodyear. I've had better luck with Dunlop, Nitto, & Michelin. Why.....I don't know.

I put Cooper Cobra's on, just because BFG's are now over-priced. hey used to be the "hot rod" tire and very wallet friendly...now they are the "premium" brand for raised white lettering! Nothing wrong with them, just over-priced, imho.

I had BFG's on my Camaro for about 15 year--no issues...just replaced them due to age, not tread life or any other issue...
I put Cooper Cobra's on, just because BFG's are now over-priced. hey used to be the "hot rod" tire and very wallet friendly...now they are the "premium" brand for raised white lettering! Nothing wrong with them, just over-priced, imho.

I have always liked BFGs, they have gotten expensive but they last a long time (if your alignment is right) and look great. Probably not the best for corner carving but for 15" wheels, about as good as you're gonna get.
I'm about to buy a new set of BFGs in a month or so. I run a 245/275-60 combo..

...they are good for about 1 year.
I had 'em on my truck, same experience, had multiple blowouts, tires wore down prematurely. I gave up on 'em.

I like the BFG's. Very practical tire imho. They look great too. But I would step up to 255R6015's if I were you. I went with 235's on my 81 and wished I would have gone 255's. They look so much better and they fit. I have 255's on my 82.

I have 275's (Firestone's) on the rear and no issues. I love the look of the T/A's but having run a few sets of T/A's and 1 set of Firehawks I much prefer the Firehawks.

i have run 275-60-15 tires on the rear on stock rims without issue. i now have 15 x 8.5 aftermarket rims with 275-60-15 drag radials.

I am running the BFG 255/60/15 on my 68 roadster with no fit or performance issues. What I have found is the raised white lettering is dull and brown looking after only 1 year. They only have about 3K miles on them not a daily driver. I was told by others the new tires have a problem with the raised white lettering.

They are good 15" tires if you want to use your 15" rims. You can find many cheaper and better performing 17" or 18" tires.
I had 15" rims and BFG's on my Impala and they were getting old enough I needed to replace them. I switched to a 17"/18" combo because it wasn't much more money for the rims and rubber and the Nitto tires I switched to are better performers than the BFG's or pretty much any other 15" tire you can purchase.

I've been contemplating on a set of these tires but man are they expensive so I just bought a set of Cooper Cobra Radial GTs from Discount Tire and they have a $100 off promotion. So for a set cost me $372 and that was with free shipping. The BFGs were going to be twice as much and I like the tread pattern better on the Coopers.

The BFG Radial TA is a good basic passenger car tire with a S rated speed rating…112 MPH Max..which is the minimum speed rating in the US for tires used on road going cars. Just about any new car will have tires which offer much more performance than an S/T rated tire..raised white lettering or not. There are no 15 inch tires for the C3 that offer any real performance..they are just a basic passenger car tire which actually have less performance than you would find on tires for a new Chevy Cruze. If you are sticking with the 15 inch tires, interested in a basic white letter tire for cruising, I would go with the cheapest tires you can find like the Coopers (which I much prefer as a brand over BFG) for the above mentioned reasons-just as an aside, I have 2 sets of Cooper RS3-A (225/60/16 ZR's and 245/55/18 ZR's) that are terrific ultra high performance tires on DD's.
One last point, lots of people think that tires just need to be round, roll, and stop and there is not much difference between a BFG TA mass market passenger tire and an ultra high performance Summer only Z Rated one….A Z rated Ultra high performance tire is stronger/has much better traction-wet or dry, much better handling, and much better steering response. With these factors in mind the speed rating is not what matters (my 78 L-82 could not hit 170 MPH if it wanted to even with a tailwind behind it.. not even close), it is all the benefits that come from that speed rating…
My last set of 15 inch tires on the 78 C3 were and still on the rims, BFG TA's-225/60/15 S rated…I switched 7-8 years ago to 17's-255/45/17 ZR's- The difference in ride, handling, steering response, traction-wet or dry-is simply not even in the same ball park as the S rated tires-it is that good and noticeable. If can find a set of 17/18 inch rims that you like and can live with, going to a Z rated tire (W-168 MPH/Y-186+MPH) will open a new world up for your C3...
